Most Kenyans have never had enough money to "budget." Most of us lurch from financial crisis to financial crisis relying on wellwishers to fill the gap (or alcohol to design an illusion.) The country runs the same way!

Kenya's economy is in ICU. A good case study which we can learn from Georgia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile and South Korea economies tightened their fiscal policies and technology advancements for the greater good.

It's not that they don't get it. It's that they don't care because we can't do sh!+

Why is Ruto running around Kenya promising the world to Kenyans? CUT SALARIES and PERKS all across govt.

Kudos to Ramah Nyang for his down to earth explanation of this cashcow called Kenya. I think he should be a member of Mbadi's (if he gets the CS job) think-tank group. He knows what he is saying.

Above anything else: fix corruption! Recover the stolen money!

Yep, it's time Kenya discusses the painful debt restructuring. The economy is in a recession KNBS cooks the books

I think they don’t know what to do. Many of the elected leaders have never even ran a successful Kiosk. These people in the parliament and the executive are practicing with Kenya’s economy.

It’s not just borrowing, it’s partying. And the people don’t care what you want to call yourselves. The people will not buy that any more.

Imagine how much employment could be generated if we put 3Tn (100 Thika Roads) a year into public sanitation, drainage, waterworks, roads, street lighting, building schools, building hospitals and investing in basic welfare (food, shelter & clothing allowance)? The country would begin to look resplendent, the people would have the basics for life and the economy would boom like no one's business! It's not hard to fix Kenya, if your intentions are pure. They are not cutting motorcades and lots of state houses, luxury travel, buying flowers for 25M etc. but they want to cut important things like education. What manner of madness is that? Can they not tell the difference between mission-critical and superfluous spending? Maximum public sector pay should be capped at 3X GDP per capita per month. $4500. That's more than 99% of Kenyans make.

Once upon a time I heard, numbers don't lie. Data doesn't lie. Not true. Data can be used to tell a story or to push a certain perspective or buy-in or whatever.
One has to understand the reliability of the data, the assumptions, the principles etc inorder to make a certain conclusion.
So, what do the numbers something, anything and everything. It depends on what you know, what you are looking for and how it's presented. Context is everything.

Economics has failed to tackle issues that impedes growth and development in economies

How big is the issue of housing in comparison to the problems in Health and Education sectors? Looks like half the money to be spent on housing can do sort out some urgent needs
balikuddemberaymond
Our CS nominees worth tells it all with millions they have. CDF is Carrot for MPs from Executive
kukumdogo
Rama Nyang breaks the figures down and unpacks the numbers, even the most useless mps get the drift and feel the crash of numbers.

Very true, the opulence is evidence that there is money.

Is it stew peedity or is something wrong with some of these shows that purport to bring professionals to these discussions. What is so hard to ask is who the beneficiaries of projects like SHIF and affordable housing are. Who is getting the tenders for cement and all other inputs, and at what price. This would explain why these projects are being pushed through down our throats.
thomasm
The problem is in parliament!! The mps are clueless and the executive is taking the advantage to loot left and right
alexnjuguna
question of ignorance but logical, all monies paid in expense in Kenya is taxed at point of local payments, what is the impact of this on the budget.?
