I think though, you could have taken this vid' further, to the general solution for three identical circles in an isosceles triangle :-
Perimeter of the triangle = Radius of the Circles X 16.392
However, the logical thinking in your explanation teaches far more than just the mathematics. Nice one!

Your usual elegant solution thanks, I'd forgotten about 30, 60, 90 thanks for that, I'm just learning so much its brilliant

Very nice task! It would be wonder to solve a similar probleme about a billiard rack filled with a set of pool balls, wouldn`t it? I wish you to be always happy, successful and blessed, dear Mr PreMath

Sir, I don't see why the triangle is equilateral. Can you please tell me why? I know it must involve tangency and the fact that the circles have the same diameter. It does seem that the three sides have to be congruent, but I don't know the theorem that would support my intuition. Thank you for your time.

Bisect the 60 by line from corner to the centre of circle. Tan 30 = 0.577 = 8/x. x = 13.85.
Perimeter = 6*13.85 + 6*8 = 131.14

Aq Only one circle may be considered, which is inscribed in half of the eq. triangle with area √3a²/8, and semiperimeter a√3(√3+1)where a is the side of theke full eq triangle. Now from
∆=rs, a=16(√3+1)
Perimeter of the full triangle is
3a=48(√3+1)

One side = 8(sq root of 3)x2 +16
Hence the perimeter is easily found .

You assume this triangle is an equilateral triangle and it seems obvious. But can you show a proof it is equilateral?
