Making an Acrylic Display Stand on the YetiTool SmartBench CNC

Part of our preparation for the DATTA Conference 2021 held at BCEC in Brisbane, QLD, we made an acrylic stand to display the Yeti SC1 Spindle (Manufactured by Mafell in Germany) next to the new CNC Stylus..

We used double sided tape to hold down our material to the spoilboard. This method is perfect when working on medium to large size parts and working with smaller work material sizes. The protective film also provides an excellent surface for the tape to hold to, achieving a great lateral hold.

We used a Carbitool 1/4" single (O) flute bit which cut beautifully through the 12mm acrylic panel. We did not utilise a finish pass, and instead decided to smooth the sharp corners and edges using Brasso, a classic tech shop trick.

We designed the stand to be flat packed, so we could easily transport it and store it when not needed.
