Why China, EU and US are at odds over electric vehicle production

The EU and US have raised concerns over Chinese dominance in electric vehicle production, accusing them of "flooding the market" and limiting other countries' ability to compete on a level playing field.

China has rejected these claims, saying their car companies have a right to sell their products anywhere in the world, as Nicole Johnston explains.

If the US is dominating, it's fair trade. If others dominate, it's not fair. 😅

Then build them in the US and EU and stop complaining...

Because EEU and US can't compete in open market.

Some Chinese EVs can cost almost double the local Chinese price when landed and sold in the US, Europe etc yet western EV makers still cannot compete with China. With the outsourcing of manufacturing of everything from socks to iphones to China for decades it's a bit late complaining, and difficult to do much, about it now.

The Western nations are 20% of the world population. 80% of the rest are prospering. R.i.P G7.

Dear China be more green, but also be less green. I don't see how it's Chinas problem that we can't keep up and are unwilling to invest.

The so-called subsidies given in China are not that uncommon globally. Most of them are in consumer rebates when buying EVs and that has already stopped in China some years ago. And they were available to foreign companies as well in China. As for manufacturing incentives, one could argue that Tesla received even more than any Chinese manufacturers. From cheap land, cheap water to cheap electricity and even help on hiring 1000s of workers.

Western car manufacturer greed has led to this. They took production to China. The Chinese watched and learnt how to build and then opened their own brand to the world.

For decades US and EU made U$ billions enjoying majority market car sales in China and it was not a problem. 😐😐

As consumers, we want cheap, not expensive and good quality cars. I don't care as long as I am not paying too much.

It's very impressive how quickly the Chinese car industry caught up when just a decade ago, everyone was laughing at Chinese cars.
