The dog jumped upon the floor... Is correct

Here we can't use onto because as you said earlier that
Onto - it's about physically placing something on top of something else.
Eg
The cat jumped onto the roof.
So now the cat is physically on the top of the roof..
2... He mounted (climbed) onto the horse.. 😊
3.. He climbed onto the vehicle and settled on the soft cushion

Jab hum physical surface se kisi apne se upar Ki place Par baithte hai... Tb hum Onto use krte hai...

What's the difference between On and Onto? Suppose I use "On" instead of "Onto" in your first sentence, would it be correct? "I placed my phone on the charger"??!!!
