I found myself think Kotone characters feel more sadder than Makoto. Makoto himself pretty much already accept his fate and make peace with it, meanwhile Kotone are on other side of depression, she someone who still genuinely care and tried her best to hide her depression from others. she desperately wanted to be happy only to find out her demise are near.
