Japan's NISA accounts are a great option for medium to long-term investing. But what are they exactly? How should we use them in 2025? Who shouldn't use NISA? And what alternatives are there?

As a foreigner who is married to JPN wife, I was selected to inherit my father-in-law company in Tokyo. Would you believe the Financial business is in parking Lot structures in Tokyo! It’s a true money maker 😊.

American in Japan here. Just found your videos and subsequently your blog. I'm finding the information really valuable. Do you have a podcast or any recommended podcasters that can speak to investing as a foreigner in Japan/U.S. Tax craziness?

I wonder what one should do if they invest in NISA but then move to another country. Can it be left to grow within the NISA account? While the profits won't be recognized in other countries, will it be possible to return to Japan at a later date and become a resident again to gain the tax free gains?

Hello thanks for your wonderful video.
I’m from Spain resident in Japan ( permanent visa).
I’m looking to open a Nisa account .
Is there any way to have the instructions in English?
Because happens the same for my Visa cards I can’t find the information in English.
Thanks so much. And have a beautiful day. 🙏🏻🕉️❤️

I actually just filled up my 2024 growth quota 2 days ago.

I had to sell one stock then repurchase it into NISA.

As a newcomer to Japan, I found your website helpful. I was hoping to buy the ebook, so I tried the free one titled "Ten steps to Financial Security". But, sadly, it displays a blank page instead of the book.
I tried from my laptop, mobile, and the Gumroad app, but it still does not appear.

Can you confirm this error? Also, Could you please check whether the same error occurs with the paid version?

I have a question: I have residency in Japan as my spouse is Japanese, but I work in China and the US. Can my wife open a NISA, and use our money to invest in her account? Does she need to show proof of employment/income of her own?
