Silverado is my favorite Western EVER! Kasdan took every Western cliche and one upped them delightfully. And casting Cleese as a sheriff was absolutely brilliant.

The relationship between Peden and Stella is my favourite, it's so wonderful and unique. It's not some cheesy romantic cliche, but it's two people who recognize a kindred spirit and acknowledge it. Linda Hunt sparkles in the role.

I'm 70 years old, and I've seen just about every western that's ever been made. I still consider John Wayne to be my favorite western actor, but I can't say that any of his movies are included among my 3 favorite westerns. My favorite western is "The Professionals" with Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin, along with an amazing cast. Burt Lancaster has what may be the best response to a request given by a women ever! Silverado is my 2nd favorite western because it has it all. I've seen the movie at least 20 times and I can honestly say I'll enjoy it even if I see it another 20 times. My third favorite western (if you can call it that) is enjoyable because of nostalgia. I wanted to see it when it came on TV in the 60's. It was going to be shown on the "Sunday Night Movie" which aired each week on one of the 3 or 4 TV channels that existed at the time. My parents would always sit on the couch and I had the great idea of pretending to fall asleep on the carpet in front of the coffee table in front of the couch. It worked and my parents left me alone while I enjoyed the entire movie. It was "The Hallelujah Trail" with Burt Lancaster once again. Some of my favorite movies were seen while I faked sleeping in front of that coffee table for several years. I later learned that my parents knew I was awake the whole time, but they knew how much I enjoyed the same movies they liked! I'm just glad my other 3 siblings had no interest in watching dozens and dozens of great movies in front of that coffee table! PS Kevin, you were 100% right is showing the response you did after killing those 2 guys outside the bar!!!!

By happenstance I caught this movie in the middle of a workday right after its release. The sound, acting and cinematography blew me away...besides the great writing and acting. I was jazzed in the very last scene when the rode off and Jake yelling, 'We'll be back.' I so looked forward to the sequel that has never come. Still an AWESOME movie and Costner was my favorite character. Siskel and Ebert agreed that the Jake character was something very special.

I've thought of this movie often in the years since it was released. recently rewatched it and it was just as thrilling and satisfying as it was almost 50 years ago. Great movie and one of the best westerns ever.

Loved that movie. His last comment about it being a ‘who is that’ movie is spot on for me. That’s the first time I remember seeing Kevin Costner and it made a big impression on me.

Very underrated western of it's time IMO but one of my top 5 of all time. Lonesome Dove, Tombstone, Silverado, Dances With Wolves, Open Range. I love a good western. The opening scene is one of the best ever. Hooked you immediately and you knew this was going to be a authentic western. Wish Costner would get behind another effort to make a good western picture.

Love this interview. I think Siverado is one of, if not THE, very best westerns, EVER! It encompasses many of the main elements of a truly great western. For just pure popcorn fun entertainment, you can't beat Silverado! The ensemble cast is absolutely fantastic, as are the characters, action, cinematography, and the music is as good as any western score. Costner, Cline, Scott Glenn, Glover, Dennehy, Linda Hunt, Jeff Fahey, John Cleese, Goldbloom . . . Wow! James Gammon, one of my favorite character actors, is in this. What many don't realize is that the actor, Earl Hindman (who was Wilson in "Home Improvement" with Tim Allen), plays J.T., the brother-in-law of Glenn and Costner.
For Costner fans, check out "American Flyers", one of his early starring roles, and made the same year as Silverado. The styles, etc., are pretty dated in this movie, but it is really a fun watch!

My late dad loved westerns and this one was one of his favorites. I remember him taking me to the movies to see it when I was 10 years old. Would be great to see a cast reunion of Silverado, Paden, Mal, Emmet and Jake together again !
