This video documents Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band playing in the Grade One Medley competition at the 25th Anniversary North Berwick Highland Games.

The band is led by Pipe Major Ross Harvey and Leading Drummer Gordon Brown. This was a medley competition and the tunes listed in the programme were:

The Big Road Brusher
Arniston Castle
The Cokerel in the Creel,
The Fair Maid of Barra
The Rakes of Kildare
Tam Bain's Lum

This is the first recording of this medley on this channel.

The North Berwick Games are held just before 'Piping Live' in Glasgow in the week leading up to the World Pipe Band Championships. As usual, It attracted some of the overseas bands visiting Scotland to complete in the Worlds. As such it was our first taste of international competition in this country since COVID and lockdown.

These games are well resourced with prizes and trophies and Boghall and Bathgate took home eight of these.

This medley is a great Boghall history lesson in itself. 1983, 93 1997, 2010, with a modern twist to bring it into 2022. My favourite medley of the season, masterfully put together.

Wow! Nice set of "classic" pipe tunes put together in a really interesting way. Also thanks for adding the tune names within the video. Very helpful!

Love the Nod to old school Boghall. The Big Road Brusher a.d The Cockrel and Creel. Early memories for me, but still musical AF! Band sounds awesome 👌 👏

Bingo, finally a medley that I can really relate to .Simple and easy listening , without complicated, unmusical , mathematical breaks overloaded with harmony .
I do not understand why some bands when coming towards the end of a tune, then spoil the effect by wrecking the last few bars, then to add insult to injury they mess up beginning of next tune . It comes across to the listener as an exercise in over technicality for no musical reward , leaving the listener wondering what is that all about .
Well done to Boghall and Bathgate , and thank you again Dronechorus .

Now THAT is music.
So much garbage played these days. Other bands take note.
