The First Amendment, which includes our five freedoms, ensures that we have the right to speak freely, practice a religion of our choice, the right to assemble and petition our government, and the freedom of the press. The Supreme Court hears many cases that are specific to these amendments. Each decade and century has brought new challenges when dealing with these rights, but no matter what, we cannot infringe on others’ rights, when protecting our own.
