Xiao taking a break from lamenting is such mood...

The most heartbreaking thing is Xiao is all alone going insane in the plains…despite all the development and his acceptance of ppl still caring for him…he thinks by staying away he is doing them a favor by not spreading his bad karma it to innocents…

The bad karma is consuming and eating him alive just like Bosacious…the trailer just shows that he can barely keep it together at times…

When the little girl says the mask is to scare away monsters, and he was afraid of it (or a vision of himself in a similar mask). I think this whole trailer is basically him seeing the "truth", that he's becoming a monster himself, or at least he thinks he is. That plus I'm sure he sees himself as a monster already, considering his past pre zhongli. I hope they go full fanservice and do a whole quest with Zhongli, Venti, and Xiao, where they help him break free from the past once and for all.

One thing that I noticed that people seemed to not understand from the encounter with the little girl is that:
1. Early on in the trailer, Xiao mentions that if he doesn't remain vigilant and becomes complacent, he will become the monster he swore to protect others from.
2. The moment he gets haunted from his visions of himself in the mask, the vision disappears because he is determined to keep moving forward, but...
3. The girl in the mask comes up to him clad in the Yaksha mask, scares him, and immediately says the mask is supposed scare monsters away, and he passes out because his resolve just vanishes at that point.

A lot of people interpret that encounter with the girl as a nice gesture because she's a child with innocence and isn't afraid of him, but it was kinda messed up because it was a subtle way of saying that he IS a monster because the mask served its purpose in scaring a monster. It honestly broke my heart seeing that.

i literally wait for Dish's reactions to things like this... I;m not that much of a deep thinker so hearing her thoughts and opinions really helps me in appreciating the character stories and lore <33

When venti mentions taking the mask off, there is so much weight behind those words, especially coming from barbatos

I agree with Dish that Venti has reached that point where he has accepted everything that has happened. And when those feelings bubble up once in a while, he uses alcohol to drive those thoughts of guilt away.

I love Xiao is because, to me, he's the embodiment of the suffering soldiers deal with every day. I have massive respect for any soldier, so he became my favorite immediately when I found out he's essentially a special ops soldier for Zhongli.

If I could, I would hug Xiao until the end of time.

Animation aside, DAMN Chinese traditional music is SO beautiful. When it’s epic, it’s REAL epic, when it’s badass, it’s REAL badass, and when it’s emotional, it’s REAL emotional.

Is it just me but the part with the child and mask has a deeper meaning:
As it is seen to scare away monsters he sees that if karma took over him he would be a monster
But that’s just a thought have a nice day

I wonder if he'd be more willing to accept help or advice from someone like Ganyu? She fought during the Archon War, and has had trouble adapting. Ganyu managed to find her place among humans, and I'm sure Xiao can too.

Life in Teyvat goes on as usual, people appear and disappear, generations live for the most part a quiet life, stories and fairy tales pop up and dissolve in time, heroes of era pursue to their limits and fade away. Years and centuries pass by, the flows of time invariably erase people, cities and countries with it.. And there is Xiao, known to everyone as a mysterious magical spirit from fairy tales, who is fighting evil out there. And for him, nothing changes with the passage of time, and all this time he endures endless obsessions alone and fights for the most part not with monsters around, but with a monster inside himself, risking being swallowed up in his own darkness in an instant. We can't lose Xiao, we almost lost him once already. Will we ever be able to purify his karma forever and end all his suffering?.. I really hope
