This time of year indoor cycling trainers are a hot topic, and for a lot of people it's not their idea of "fun". (myself included) BUT is there a way to make it more tolerable and dare I say... FUN? Well in this video we are going to try out a "smart bike" from Zwift that hopefully can make indoor cycling/training just a little more enjoyable and effective.

CORRECTION: The crank arms are 170mm on this bike, NOT 175mm. My mistake

I've had my zwift ride for the last few months, and found that group rides, and the routes make it fun and competitive. it also helps to have a good show on the side :)

Great review. Replacing the saddle is a must. It can be a bit tricky.

Looking forward to more content. 🚴

Nice review...Love the Manitowish tee. We had a vacation home on Lake Manitowish for decades starting in the 50's...brother now has a home on Little Star. Wonderful bike paths and they are expanding.

10:12 insert meme "you sure about that"? 😂

Its actually 170mm crankset, but your poimt about non adjustability is quite valid regardless.

Just got mine. What i didn't think of was the saddle i had some generic seat from years ago, damn thing turned into a real ass hatchet. Had to go back to my old flite trans alp for comfort even then im going to look into one of the ones with the cutouts, comfort is important with these things

charging the control on the handle bars was an eye sore at first, then I realized it only needs to be charged about once a month. I just completed a December challenge, riding everyday and almost every day indoors for 50-60 minutes and only plugged in my controls at the beginning of the month.

Great review. This almost makes an indoor trainer look fun. Or maybe it was the Miller Lites that did the trick?

The next iteration should be integrating the Kickr Climb tech into that front fork.

There is a $100 discount thru Jan 6 for that package. May depend on what state you live in but i would be charged a sales tax which would add another $96 along with the $75 shipping. Will probably get the Jet Black Victory trainer and buy the Zwift frame without the Wahoo trainer

Please update in spring what you think of the Zwift Ride/Kicker Core. Thanks to you I'm upgrading to two 24" smart TVs and a sound bar from an old laptop and ipad. Darn you Dutchman!

And it locks you into zwift platform. Good job zwift.

would this work for someone who is 36 years old and weighs 165 lbs?

Did the rider controls on top come directly with purchase or did you add to purchase?

The main/only reason I'm not going to buy one of these Zwift frames is that the crank arm length is 170mm. I've been using 165mm for over 10 years and is the perfect length for me. They should make them adjustable. Maybe that will be on the next model?

Another reason not to buy the complete bundle is the Kickr Core. I did try a Kickr Core before upgrading from a Kickr V2 to the Kickr V5 I have now but it just didn't have the road feel I was used to. Saying that... I am thinking of trying the virtual Zwift shifting and the Core is one of only 3 trainers that work with the Zwift Cog system so might try a Core again although the Elite Direto XR might be better. The Kickr V6 works with virtual shifting but a bit too much to spend just to try it.

The number of issues showing up on the Zwift Forum would keep me away from that montage of parts. If I want to try virtual shifting I would probably go with the QZ app that works with most/all trainers. For an actual All-In-One system, one off the Smart Bikes will be better integrated but will be pricier. Also the Elite system should be out soon...that system will work on any app...as the Zwift Ride will only work on Zwift.

Just got mine, and it feels nice for sure. But I am sad that there's really nowhere to go for upgrades. There's nothing I can do for steering. There's nothing I can do for the climbing or swaying back and forth. I mean it's a solid machine and I like it for what it is. But yeah it is kind of disappointing that the only thing I can really upgrade is the handlebars and the seat and the pedals

I feel "the next logical step" is a bit far-fetched. A Kickr Core (or used Zwift Hub), paired with your Synapse and the Zwift Cog + Play Controllers would offer you a very comparable experience for a fraction of the Zwift Ride bundle. Though, beautiful piece of hardware and surely a joy to ride on!
