Nelson, your attitude says it all. You lost not only the dance battle but also the mental battle. Because you know deep down what's going on: MT Pop is much more talented.

watch every video of MT Pop where Nelson is judging...I always thought he gave off hater vibes...this video kinda confirmed it even though he said he's not hating..I feel there is a sense of hate being from the older gen vs. MT pop whos relatively newer and gaining traction recently.

MT definitely took that one. All 3 rounds. MT Pop was very consistent and we can see that Nelson was struggling. Nelson is an amazing dancer on his good days with the right music.
The thing is, MT Pop is a creative dancer who has practiced a lot of concepts and has pretty good mastery of the art of creatively using the 1 to 8 counts of the music to keep things interesting. This means that, regardless of the type of music, he can still put on a pretty good performance. Watching him makes me think "Oh, that was pretty cool" or "Wow, that was an amazing idea" like when he did the snake bite thing when facing Eun G. What it doesn't make me think is, "Damn, that guy feels the music with his soul!".

Nelson on the other hand is a dancer who has to be energized by the music to do well. When I saw some of his best performances, it made me think "Yep, no one can beat that round. His bloody soul was dancing!!" and it has never made me think "Wow, that was a really amazing idea". He has no concepts, just feelings and high-level dance.

I prefer the feeling type of dance myself but I know that there are all kinds of dancers with different motivations for dancing. Some dance to apply their geometry skills creating intriguing angles within the 1 to 8 counts, some dance to create interesting concepts finding joy in the ability to stick it in any kind of music and make it connect, some dance to just vibe, some dance to keep the culture going, some dance to express the different characters that sit in the music, some dance to be free and out of control, and much more. Acknowledging these differences is important if you want to be free.

I dance to be free and out of control and I also enjoy expressing the sudden inspiration of character that comes while being free because I think control is very one-dimensional proven by the fact that we can only pay attention to, or think of, one thing at a time but the unexplainable beauty of art comes from the unknown chaos. Without, letting go of control, we cannot tap into the power of chaos within us. Also, I get tired of control because life forces me to plan ahead for the future and such. So, dance is like the place where I let go. However, it is not a good idea to completely let go of control because then your chaos cannot manifest in a comprehensible language/shape. The control element in my opinion is only useful as far as giving some foundation with flexibility/mobility/muscle control/musical reflex.

I think that the type of dancer you become just depends on the ratio of order to chaos you mix. These are heavily influenced by your genes, life experience, and your personality.

I hate when poppers say/think MT doesn't pop. "He does pop".. He's just more creative than y'all.. (Much respect for Nelson tho)

Salah greenteck and mtpop have a similar trayectory where they took over the scene out of nowhere and got in a league of their own in terms of originality. I believe they are the most impactful poppers in terms of creativity all time in their peak.

Nelson's "i pop" jab/comment gave off serious hater vibes, but it's not surprising at all. I think he knew that he couldn't keep up with MT Pop after the second round and it was downhill from there. The old guard that clings to that super old school boogaloo style is slowly being left behind and they can't stand it. Slim Boogie, MT Pop, Hoan, and other poppers that push the boundaries of the style are being hated on IMO.

Now that I've said that, onto the battle itself. I've said this on other videos, MT Pop is one of the toughest opponents (popping or otherwise), he is SUPER technical and precise, he also has hella concepts. His only real "weakness" is that he doesn't do much footwork. I had him winning all rounds here, although I could see the first round being a tie. Nelson embodies the traditional boogaloo style, and it's kinda stale if you don't add any flair or freshness to it. Having the foundation is awesome, but just popping and grooving isn't enough in a battle, the beatkills and the surprise factor have to be there too. I don't have anything against Nelson (although I think he's a boring dancer personally), he just isn't better than MT Pop, and that's ok.

Watching all of the SDF MT Pop videos too many times and every time I still find something amazing about his dance. Proud of you MT and congrats on your DYS Redbull world champion. You are the one and only!

LOVED watching Nelson get owned. He's been carried by his teammates for far too long. On his own, he looks pretty ordinary.

Man! This really has been MT Pop’s year.🔥 Like Nelson said, he’s the future, so embracing it will only help the popping scene. Everyone has their time to shine, so respect for Nelson in recognizing that.🙏
