One can also start from the definition of the modulus: z*z = |z|^2 to show that 1/z = z*/|z|^2. It's good to go through the details once like MS did.

Great vid! I used this book in my Complex Variables class as a grad student. Aside from this book I also used Schaums Outlines book on Complex Variables to help me understand the topic.

Oh my, you are triggering memories in me. My first math course in university called Algebra and Geometry, introduced the 3 dimensional plane and then later in the course, the complex plane. This is what hooked me. I remember the feeling of exhilaration I had learning complex numbers. That was many many years ago.

Awesome, I've been learning complex variables using this book, and it's really good in my opinion. Also, thanks for all your book review videos! I collected a small library of 8 math textbooks this summer for self-study and your recommendations helped me a lot in the process of selecting them.

1. To efficiently work with pencils, get two pencil cups, sharpen the entire box of pencils and place it in one pencil cup (sharp cup), while the used, dull pencils go into the other (dull cup). As a pencil become dull, put it into the dull cup and take new sharp pencil from the sharp cup. Evetually you must sharpen the batch of pencils to reset.
2. To fix table instability, buttress two sides of table against two sides of room, such as a room corner.

MATH. I love these types of videos where you review the book and solve a few exercises. Thank You so much you are THE GREATEST.

Love this book - I had this exact version for my complex analysis class in my physics undergrad. Quite pleasant and approachable

Churchill/Brown is a classic text, I have an older copy I have used for reference many times. There are many good books on Complex Analysis. I like Gamelin's text, Saff/Snider is good as is Mathews. A really fun one is "Visual Complex Analysis" by Tristan Needham. That is a fantastic book which ties in some of the fun Geometric side of things. Complex Variables is such a cool subject that branches off into so many fascinating landscapes of Mathematics, PDE's, integration, Geometry, Algebra, etc.

I used this book in my undergrad Complex Variables class. It also has a student solution manual with odd worked out problems.

I used the same book in my complex analysis course

Churchill has been around for a long long time. I think this is a revision of the original Churchill. I had complex analysis from Nahari, more of less out of this book in an earlier edition.

it is a very good math book. I have the 9th ed. it is a very mathy, yet not too mathy, to the point being intimidating like some books. And the exercises in this book are excellent! if i have only one complaint, wish there were more examples. Or you can buy the solution book which is a great complement as well

Nice vid! I would do in a faster way. Let z = x + iy, and let w =1/z = 1/(x + iy).now multiply top and bottom by the conjugate of the denominator.

that's a lot of work for one problem -- and teachers always assign 10 problems that each have a part a, part b, part c ...
so you end up doing 40 different math problems

That book gives me nightmares. I was a Ph.D. student in chemistry way back in 2002 and the last elective course I took was complex analysis. We used that book. I was so done with course work. I think I managed a B-.

Great video, I wanted to ask, if possible could you review Zorich analysis 1? It's a russian real analysis book, Vladimir Arnold defined it as the best analysis book.
