That Manta is a legend, I love it for what it has done over the years.

I'd naturally want the tuned production cars rather than the GT cars. But I wonder what would happen if they got banned? Would the field still be as big as it is today, with the same drivers, or would it significantly decrease?

The competition at the top is likely much closer with the GT3s, while modified production cars would be a lot more unpredictable (always good in endurance) and someone is likely to walk away with an "easy" victory.

And lets not fool ourselves, with GT cars allowed, money follows. With only small time privateers in the field you can't demand a whole lot in entry fees. With rich GT customers you can charge significantly more.

I swear the same exact thing happened to the Bathurst 12 Hour. It used to be about a variety of cars and who could manage the traffic the best, whereas now there isn't as much as a cup car with maybe 1 or 2 GT4's. I did appreciate the sights and sounds of what was an epic 2020. But Bathurst has been almost Grand Tourers exclusively from that point. It is no surprise that those teams who build their own car started the Bathurst 6 Hour so they can race without GT3's taking over

Pure racing is over. There is no more creative rules interpretation. It really is who has the most money.

I can feel the salt at the death of the self-made cars, and completely justifiably so. Maybe they should peg down the manufacturer cars to GT4, or maybe GT2.

Do the GT cars run their usual balance of performance?

It’s a hard line to draw. I love GT3 racing and would totally have one if I had the budget behind me.
But there needs to be an aspirational path for the grass roots competitor. My friends and I probably can’t build a GT3 car, but we can build a production (ish) class car to go play and I hope that there is a space for guys like us to race at the drawcard tracks for years to come.

I've only been once to this race years ago, it's about time I go there again!

Do you know if it was the BoP that made all Porsche to struggle with tyre puncture in Qualy ?
Some comment stated, that the additional wheight of the BoP made the tyre touch the rear fender during high suspension compression.
At least 4 Porsche had the problem

Love to see the unique cars. GT3 is a relatively uninteresting class.

RIP Dacia, you have been a good race car

They should keep the GT3s because the competition is great but allow wilder alternative cars to give them more technical freedom and chances at winning. Also for the smaller efforts, promote them more and make their class wins a big deal on the broadcast and social media.

I love the blend of both manufactured and self made race cars.

I feel like it woild be a loss either way to drop one or the other. Maybe if in future they controlled the manufactured and private race car entries. If there is an even number of both then there nay be more balance

Thank you for making these videos. I always watch them before the events to gain some additional knowledge =) I generally like the Gt3´s because the racing is close and I can expreience them in ACC often with custom skins from Race Department. The unique cars are great as well but for me it is hard to compare their performances. As long as there are different classes in 24h hour races I am satisfied.

There could be actually second race for semi amateurs, maybe 12 hours.
Anyway, big N24 is the best 4 wheel race in the world !

Firstly, thank you for covering this great race. I have participated in the 3 hour classic/historic race in the past (NB a sincere thought for the late Egon Meurer) but would love to watch the 24h. Important note: great fan base watches the event (BBQ and beers).

Secondly to answer the question is to cover the real issue, is it for warmed up Production cars or complete specials? I think this is for Production cars not for GT3's.

This event should be for "Gp N or Gp A cars only. The historic race also has "mission creep". and back in the 90's there was an awful rule conditioning refilling to 5 minutes. This was fine for the 2.8 RSRs...but of no interest to 1960s race cars that consume 50% less.

Lastly, there is an important climate change reason for change. Manufacturers should try to "decarbon" their participation...and a GT3 is not the way to go! A GT3 is not really intended for the road. They are simply for rich folks to store in garages or "show".

Keep the multi-class, but let the homebuilt cars fight to keep their laps.
