I honestly do not understand why an individual would give this gentleman a thumbs down. If you have nothing positive to say, say nothing at all. These tutorials are not easy to make. Let alone the methods of playing the piano and teaching music theory. I am grateful for all your labor. Thank you.

I'm going to a Jazz workshop- rootless.... that's a big challenge, you are the first human to practice the left hand in a real practical way with your handgrips, thanks a lot, greets from Austria!

Wow! What can I say? Oliver, you are an amazing teacher! I have wanted to understand and learn the jazz chords for so many years but was always overwhelmed by traditional teachers. Your pedagogical method is the best I have ever experienced. I've learned more from just two of your lessons than all the years of frustrated grinding with others. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Oliver!! You have changed my musical life forever in two short weeks! You are a beyond amazing teacher! I have since I found your channel only two weeks ago adopted several new habits, programmed all the pentatonic minor scales and can already switch between them quite well. I am tapping constantly and have spent several hours a day at my keyboard practicing all types of your wonderful stuff and have just begun. Learning this stuff has been a long time dream but I never knew who to ask and WHAT to ask about. Your lessons are uncovering principles that I have been unaware of for years. Mind you I have made a living thru music since the late 80's, "hustling" my keyboard playing when writting stuff. My Dad was a jazz head galore and I grew up hearing all the greats so to improve my ability to improvise has long been highest on my list of musical wishes. Finding your channel has shown me that there is still a chance for me to, with a ton of effort improve vastly. Your techniques have proved incredibly inspirational to me and are showing results really quickly. It is to me (at least) even massive fun to practice Thank You to No End

Even though this is a twenty-minutes video It must have taken hours to make. The teaching tech and tools are superb with a bonus of pdf. You are the best.

Oliver, there are dozens of teachers for piano on Youtube . I get bits from all of them. But you are my Key of C. I always return to you because I know that we share certain values about life and music. Your voice itself is a persuasive instrument. I have a smile when you use the word Thrilling. I need to look that up in German. I began in childhood with brass, changed to drums in my teens and now in my maturity it's all piano. I'm in love with the piano.

Oliver, your lessons are just amazing !! As a teenager I played synthesizer. 25 years ago I bought a digital piano and practiced classical works. I have never really had piano lessons so I am a little self-taught. Sometimes I did my own improvisations. I have hardly played in the last 10 years. Recently I started playing the piano again, but I soon got tired of it. Until I came across your videos on YouTube. Man, this is really great. I thought about learning to play jazz for a while. Thanks to your videos, I am motivated to play the piano again. Yes, I really want to learn to play jazz on the piano! Jazz is so relaxing and fun to listen to. I no longer want to play the melancholy and depressing works of the past. Jazz piano is a new world that has opened up for me. And I have now found the right channel here on YouTube. It will not be easy but I am motivated! Really thanks !! Greetings from Belgium. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 And the PDFs are so helpful. This channel is like a gift from God to me. Thanks thanks thanks !!!!

As we know from modes, simply starting on a different note is what colors the perception of the exact same notes. In this way you have shifted my perspective on what was there all along, which has opened new doors!

I was bored playing regular Major and minor chord...

And... as I'am french I'll say it in french

New Jazz est un site absolument génial pour démystifier et rendre le jazz mais pas seulement ... accessible et ""presque"" facile

I’ve been working on re-learning piano after playing professional non-jazz piano in my youth and then taking a 15-year break from serious practicing/playing.
And I’ve watched a ton of online tutorials lately. Where have you been??? So glad I found you and your approach to theory. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!!

I love your style of teaching. It has helped me break free of the rigid bounds of my classical music education and focus more on improv and feeling free when I play.
How I practice my chords: First, practice the descending grips hands together. Once it is smooth, practice with chords in the left hand and bass in the right hand, and then with chords in the right hand and bass in the left hand. Say them out loud!
