Sticking with M1 pro is pure wisdom....M4 is like a hulk without any job to do.

This review made realize that the best thing to do is to wait until a test review is done before i decide which ipad to buy.

Just a heads-up from someone who uses their iPad exclusively for illustration. If you are thinking of getting a new iPad Air instead of a refurbished Pro M2, the new iPad Air DOES NOT have different RAM options. This might seem pointless but if you use something like Procreate, the amount of RAM in your iPad will limit how many layers you can have active. The iPad Air, even at the 1TB option, only has 8GB of RAM. The M2 iPad Pro from 2022, in the 1TB and 2TB options, has 16GB of RAM.

Watching this on my 12.9 in 2018 iPad Pro. It’s still killing it.

Honestly MKBHD said it best- they’re still iPads even if they have more features for the pencil (seriously tho why is there now 4 pencils? why can’t we have 2 max but 1 preferably??) and the pros have OLED & are lighter. but they’re still iPads

I’m still here with my iPad 8 chilling

After I did researching on the iPad models, I recently found iPad Pro 12.9 inch 6th Gen M2 at Best Buy around $750 compared to iPad Air 13 inch. I decided to buy the iPad Pro because ProMotion I am use to it from my 15 pro max, and 14 inch MacBook Pro

If you upgrade regularly ie every year or 2, then buy the basic iPad; however if you plan to keep for 3 or 4 yrs the Air is a far better option and if you plan on 5yrs+ than get a Pro.its about future proofing your investment for as long as possible but if future proofing isn’t important because you change them often then the cost to buy is more important (ie the cheapest).

If you need a certain feature then that becomes the important factor rather than price or future proofing.

I’m using an iPad Pro 10.5” (2017), so I’m now upgrading to the new iPad Pro 11” (2024 M4) and hope to still be using it in 2030.

I was really hoping for an iPad mini 7. I'll stick with my mini 6 for now.

Grabbed myself a black 13” Pro 1TB Nano-Glass Cellular w/black KB and stylus. Last version I had was the original iPad Pro since what feels like 2015, so gonna be a great upgrade and will last me for years to come like my last pro.

Edit wow, thought it was 2019, but it was 2015 when I got it and still running strong

Ordered the 13”. Cancelled. Ordered the 11”. Cancelled. Ordered the 13”….😂

At the end of the day, I’m upgrading from the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 for the OLED display. M4 is great but the reality is I’m not even pushing the 2020 chip too much.

I’m optimizing for the display over the portability.

I would say the basic iPad Pro is totally worth it for the specs you don't need, at least for 99.9% of the buyers. I'd imagine it's good only for artists and people who require to do video shooting and editing on the go. Obviously for techies and people who has money to spend to experience the latest and greatest, as there is a difference in experience in screen and pencil tech. If I was 15 years younger I'd get one just for the tech as well. But today, I've become an average user with average needs. A MacBook Air + iPad mini has become the perfect combo for me. I'm still using the iPad mini 5 btw, and still great for media consumption (no gaming)

at the end of the day, it is still an ipad with specs upgraded. And it is still held back by the software.

I have finally decided to get an 11-inch iPad Air with 1TB of storage. Previously, I planned on getting an iPad Pro because only the iPad Pro models then had more than 256 GB of memory.

My current iPad Pro is an 8-year-old 10.5 inch with 256 GB of memory so the model I plan to get has three improvements:

1) faster chip
2) bigger display
3) four times the memory

Of course, if money were no object, I would get the new iPad Pro but with limited financial resources the one I chose represents the best value for money that suits my needs

If someone's looking at the new iPad Air, I would personally steer them towards a refurbished or used M1 or M2 iPad Pro instead. It's the same accessory ecosystem and you get the the Pro Motion display, Face ID, Thunderbolt, etc.

I didn’t realize the base storage came with a slower M4 chip. Doesn’t matter for my usage, but I wish it came with the full M4. Great video. Can’t wait until the 15th.

purchasing the outgoing m2 ipad pro 12.9 will get you everything the new air does but with a mini led hdr screen, pro motion, thunderbolt and quad speakers. and ive seen them around 800 bucks. The original m1 ipads are still overkill for ipad os so there really is no point spending a premium on m4 today when you can spend almost half and get nearly the same performance and features.

The M2 Air 11" looks promising, even more when you only need the WiFi. I wouldn't say cheap, but affordable.

I returned an iPad Pro 12.9 a week ago waiting for this announcement. Decided to take a regular iPad 10th gen instead. iPad Air doesn’t make any sense, you can get a Pro M2 with Pro Motion on sale right now for the same price. Also, only the older Magic Keyboard that is compatible with the new iPad Air M2. To me, the new iPad Air should have had a 120 hz display and a lighter Magic Keyboard otherwise is too heavy
