Amazon CodeWhisperer is a machine learning (ML)–powered service that helps improve developer productivity by generating code recommendations based on their comments in natural language and code in the integrated development environment (IDE). In this video, I'll show you how to use Amazon CodeWhisperer from Visual Studio. I'll also share my thoughts on using this tool and what I think about AI-powered coding in general. In the end, I'll try to answer the question: will AI take our jobs.

Great video, I would appreciate more videos like this.
EDIT: just tried it for 2 days it seems that it optimized for AWS only.

I ❤ AI. After 20 years of googling and stackoverflowing and complete burnout I'm in love with profession again )

Anybody using VS only, Vscode does this with copilot for years. You can get a whole file of code completion, while the same copilot in VS can barely complete a line.

Ironic to say AI will take dev jobs. If so, who will use the code-gen AI?

Looks like all it does is copy code from the Amazon documentation and paste it into the IDE.

@0:57 - Don't be fooled by the "first of all, it's free..." because... it is not. Where I possibly need AI and save me work would be on my day to day job. That means that there is an organization at play. AWS is likely purposely not clear on this but I think you would have to pony up for the $19 per user per month. The same as VS community edition, which people think is free, it is not. Very likely you are using VS community edition in a business environment where your company does not satisfy the conditions for free use. The devil is in the details.
