Jeffrey Wolynski is at it again, this time thinking he can refute one of Keplers Laws of Planetary Motion. Is he on to something? Or is he making up his own astrophysics again? Let's find out.

Mom is just happy he is home and safe making drawings in the basement.

The dedication these people have to being wrong is just astounding

"Laws I made up don't match with ones that have been calculated from observation". Shocker.

Back in the late 1980s when the Internet was mostly a network of university computers I enjoyed reading the theories that students posted on Usenet and watching actual professors analyze them and have scholarly discussions with the students even when the theories were strange or uninformed. I never thought this Internet would turn into videos of morons telling people that they know more than the scientists.

As a teen, I spent like ten hours programming in BASIC on a Commodore 64 to make a planet simulator that followed Kepler's laws. Our physics teacher let us "get creative" on a final project later that year, so I brought the whole system in. Went by the room later in the day and he was showing it to other classes. It was my greatest achievement to that point in life. Thanks, Kepler!

Oh I always wondered why they put "Not to Scale" on diagrams. It is for people like Jeffrey.

"The wrongness will expand outward" now added to my list of Ironic quotes.

Let's take a minute to pause and simply admire Kepler's insight. It is not complicated, but it is not obvious. No computers. No incredible telescopes. No satellites. Just one incredible mind. Just wow!

Imagine trying to debunk science without ever using math 😂

Phrases Geoffrey struggles with:

"Not to scale"
"Do not touch"
"For illustration purposes"
"Serving suggestion"

Even Kepler himself couldn't believe it when he solved the math, but being a talented mathematician, he had to accept the facts. The man cracked the code, something he worked on all his life. I have great respect for him.

I do enjoy how Jeffrey’s monotone presentation style doesn’t attempt to disguise how slowly the cogs are turning in his brain.

It's amazing how many "Self-Taught" Physicists, Virologists, Epidemiologists, etc that popped up on the internet, that record in their Basements or Mobile homes.

Honestly i have to thank jeffrey here- without him, i never would have learned keplers second law, and you actually broke it down in such a way that it's pretty easy to understand! Thanks for actually teaching me something

There seems to be a special kind of mindset with these people. Like if there's some bit of well established scientific knowledge that I don't get, I'll start by assuming I don't understand it and need to take another run at it. But these people jump instead to "people have believed and used this law for centuries, but I, a common dumb, am the only one to notice it's not true!" Certainly old ideas can be overturned by new ones, but that's generally done by people who thoroughly understand the old idea and have done real work to show why it's incorrect, or incomplete.

The confidence of these people not knowing anything about math or physics, but still can 'explain' you how it works.

This must be a surprise to all the spacecraft that have successfully navigated multiple high-precision gravity assists to get to where they're going.

The "maths is a trick, it isnt real " subgenre of conspiracy theories is a fascinating one to me. The almost visceral anger at the idea of a purely abstract concept being real, and describing reality.

Even if planets did lose significant mass over short periods of time, Kepler's second law would still apply. The 'special condition' of losing significant mass would be an added variable to allow for more accurate predictive methods.

I love how he took the time to explain the definition of the word "faster" for all of us laymen.
