this is ironic: Hook loves Emma, who has a son, Henry, with Neal/Baelfire. Hook cared for Bae when he was young, but was responsible for breaking up his parents. They are fighting for the same person. Rumple wants to kill Hook, but Hook is Emma's lover, who was his son's lover, yet Hook was Milah's lover. So Emma loves the man who is the lover of her father - in - law (sorta) ex-wife.

Hook is shocked because now he realizes they are family and when he is on his boat he turns his ship around to help his family. You can say that he loves Baelfire as much as he loved Milah because he is all he has left of her.

The last two episodes of season 2 have been completely amazing, cant wait until season 3, such along time to wait, after such an amazing season final, love hook one of my favorite characters, glad he was in most of the episode, made it even more amazing and i knew Neal would be alive, so happy cant wait for him and Emma to final get back together, be awhile yet but in meantime loving the Hook and Emma chemistry :)

I think they're both loners and that's what she means here. Or at least, she used to be a loner before she came to Storybrook. Remember, she lived in an empty appartment, was alone on her birthday etc. She only counted on herself because of her trust issues.
And Hook is kinda like that too but not for the same reasons. They are both "broken". I think that's why they understand each other so well. And that's what I like about them.

uhm actually the theme is "true love" not first love.
emma and neal are first love, not true love. i get if you are a neal fan or swanfire shipper, but that's the reality. neal is emma's first love, she's capable of loving other than him, if graham wouldn't be dead they would be together. i don't think so, emma and hook has great chemistry and they are fun together, so much potential. & i can't wait to see that in s3.<3 he's no tragic hero either. C:

No. The globe Rumple used to find Bae in New York used his blood. If Neal wasn't Rumple's blood, the globe wouldn't have pinpointed his location. It also wouldn't have pinpointed Henry's location in the finale. I think Hook just knew what Bae meant to Milha, and he realized he had a lot in common with him...

Hook could be to a certain extent compared to Damon. He might have some good in him but he remains mysterious. Not the kind of character that could forget and forgive.
I don't see them working in a Delena sort of way, though.
