Boston all the way! I own that exact same model, best piano (for its size and price range) I've ever owned or ever played!! The absolute BEST!

Wow the Essex sounds surprisingly pretty!
The Boston sounds just like the old KG series Kawai.

The first piano sounds clean and soft, but not crystal clean like a Steinway, nor soft to the point of being mellow like a Blüthner (some people might call it muffled). It has a tad bit of richness to the sound. Like it's a young child trying to figure out where it belongs in the world, its personality, trying to learn the truth about itself.

The second piano sounds louder, almost sharp like a Yamaha, but less aggressive. It feels a tad bit more on the rich side, and less on the soft one. Some level of cleanness, but less than the first one. It also feels like a young kid seeking to set itself durably in a world in which everyone else already have a place. But unlike the first one, it isn't shy, and is throwing itself into the mass to impose itself.

Even though the Boston pianos are supposed to be at a conservatory level, and are made by Kawai, I somehow prefer the Chinese made Essex which has a much warmer tone. It may just be where they were recorded.

Ah! They sound identical when you listen to them on your crappy laptop speakers. What is the point of this comparative crap on the Internet?

Will not buy both Boston & Essex. Some people brand them a poor man Steinway. If u can't afford Steinway, go for Yamaha/Kawai.
