gothic barcelona

here's a love letter to barcelona ! a couple days after leaving barcelona the first time i edited the first cut of this movie. i was sitting in an airbnb in southampton (UK) & i was feeling nostalgic. that's why the video is in black & white even though it's such a colorful city. the nostalgia. i had just spent 14 april - 25 may in barcelona. it was a super inspiring time for me as i walked thru the old curvey streets admiring the cinematic beauty of the city. it didn't take long for me to fall in love with it all. i experienced so much positive energy & freedom coming from the people that i met. it's a rare & diverse place in the world where i perceive people as being more open & also really living in the present tense. i'm not really sure why that is, but that's how i felt/feel. "gothic barcelona" then waited patiently on my hard drive for half a year. i've been back a couple times since then. the second time raising my expectations too high, the third time re-entering that environment without any expectations. i think that's a healthier way to live. recently i switched up the music because this little movie deserves music from musicians who actually live there. mauro meloni & delfina mancardo are both from argentina & now they can call barcelona their home. so i imagine that we can relate to similar sentiments of this place, even though barcelona is still more a vacation destination for me. the songs from the ep "what is lost is lost" felt fitting. i also added in some brief moments of humans that i admire including lots of footage of my niño elo who was only 2 years old at the time. then i spliced in short sections of conversations with musicians that i met in barcelona talking about barcelona !
