Man that car is a work horse, you should really keep it and restore it as much as you can when possible. Cars well built to last like that no longer exist. Modern cars are bottom of the barrel materials, plastics and engines designed to last less than 10 years. Greetings from Mexico

Nathan, thanks for saving all my computers, it's given with pleasure and they don't go in to a landfill. The youngest is the AMD 4000+ with Windows XP 64bit, I think, it's 11 years ago that I was there. Have a lot of fun with them and the Compaq's were all working when I left in 2013. Thanks for showing the link to our workgroup, we only use GNU-Linux and we help every one that wants to learn it. 👍

Whenever an Australian man takes a long road trip my first instinct is to scream "EIGHT HOUR DRIVE WE GOTTA GO TO BENDIGO"

I like this channel, the dude rolls like a normal person. Most of these YouTubers must have 300K budgets...

Those compaq lunchbox portables are rare and extremely valuable. Definitely worth the trouble of going on a road trip to get them.

When I got my 1st job in IT (intern in May 1989), I used one of those Compaq portable computers. Although it had a monochrome display, it had a better CPU than the desktop computers used by the full time employees. Brings back great memories using Lotus 123 on them. The expansion module on the back of it was for connecting to the mainfame.

If someone had asked me "Do you want to watch a video of a nerdy guy taking a road trip to pick up eWaste", my answer would have been "No", and I would have missed out on a great video - thank you.

I enjoyed your video. I have a Compaq Portable III, mine didn't work either but I got it back working with some advice from the Vintage Computer Federation Forums and other advice from folks who have posted on the Internet about their repairs.
