Pearl's Spline Shaft Prep For Heat Treatment

Pearl’s splined shaft is underway once again Prepping the blanks to be within grinding tolerances before the heat treatment is carried out. Modify what is needed to adjust for the new gear bore on the repair we did back a year ago.

With the intended new higher rpm's all is critical I would guess? Is a flame paint job or, wrap being planned?

Is it better to use a dead center for turning between centers or a live center that spins with the part? I would think the dead center might gall a little but a live center may have play in the bearings, so it made me curious.
