I'll never forget that goal from big John it's up there with Naka's free kicks against United as it meant the tie was over and Liverpool knew it as well. What a player and what a man and for him to come through the illness he had as well was immense, he's a big gentleman and a true Celtic man. God bless him and his family and I love the big fulla to bits.

An amazing night and result that.... It wasn't even that big a surprise at the time as we had a team on par with the top of the English Premiership. Money has killed that now with the English clubs able to pay £50k+ a week just to their subs & kids!!
Results like that will rarely, if ever, happen again 🍀

Invented by Hiram S. Maxim in 1884, the first automatic machine gun was birthed in the United States. Maxim’s machine gun was completely self-powered and worked by relying on the energy released in the firing cartridge that would then dislodge multiple bullets with nothing more than the pull of a trigger. This kind of technology was unheard of.

It was not until 1887 that the machine gun made its way to the German Army. By 1917, the Germans were reporting that the majority of their small arms ammunition, 90% to be exact, were going into the chambers of their machine guns. This was a sobering thought. It was in 1916 that the British and Allied Forces created barrage fire.

Barrage fire was a method that allowed troops to fire over the heads of their own soldiers. This opened up the way for both planned and unexpected attacks as well as responses to SOS calls from the infantry. By late 1917, the Germans created elite sharpshooter attachments. They would use them in their specialized attack formations that they have become so notorious for.

The impact of the machine gun was felt early on, and the result was the largest number of losses during the war. The enormous losses in August and September 1914 were never equaled. The total number of French casualties was 329, 000. At the height of Verdun, the three month period from February to April 1916, French casualties were 111, 000. It was the impact and associated losses of the machine gun that drove the major combatants into the trenches.

Hamas means ‘violence’ in Hebrew, and first appears in Genesis 6v11 & 13 when ‘hamas’ (violence) caused Noah’s flood. The Hamas attack was called Al-Aqsa Flood. In Gaza Hamas is lead by Yahya Sinwar, whose name reminds us that Noah’s flood was ‘God’s sin-war.’

In Matthew 24, Christ prophesied that prior to His return there would be “great tribulation.” Christ said the “great tribulation” would be triggered by events in Jerusalem. “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation there of is nigh” (Luke 21:20).

In countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia the situation of Christians and other minorities has reached an alarming stage. In Saudi Arabia there are strict limitations on all forms of expression of Christianity including public acts of worship. There have been regular crackdowns on private Christian services. The Arab-Israeli conflict has caused the majority of Palestinian Christians to leave their homeland. The population of Palestinian Christians has dropped from 15% to 2%. The rise of hate speech against Christians in state media and by religious leaders, especially in countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia, has compromised the safety of Christians and created social intolerance. In 2017 a total of 99 Egyptian Christians were killed by extremist groups. state-sponsored social media, sometimes incite hatred and publish propaganda against Christians, especially in Iran, Iraq and Turkey. The governing AK party in Turkey depicts Christians as a ‘threat to the stability of the nation’. Turkish Christian citizens have often been stereotyped as not real Turks but as western collaborators.
