See I think OP went about this the wrong way. I wouldn't have waited till she got back I would have sent her a text the night he found out saying "I know what you're doing, I know who you're with and I know you lied about spouses not being allowed to come. Don't bother coming home" then I would just stop responding and let her stew. That way she'll probably talk herself into a hole and you get the fun of ruining her little get away with her boyfriend.

I have to be blunt and call both OP and the ex-wife idiots throughout this whole divorce affair. OP, your lawyer sister explicitly told you NOT to reveal the information, and the crap storm was exactly what she wanted to avoid, though mercifully, it did not escalate.
For the ex-wife, this is what we call "wanting to eat your cake and still have it" in the civilized world. Sounds like she never quite got over her ex-BF in college, so when she learned he was divorced, she must think this was a good chance to finally win him over. As for why she spun this web of lies, the answer is simple: OP is her nest egg in case the ex-BF did not reciprocate. She thought she could lie so if she failed in her pursuit, she could still return to OP, waiting for her arms wide open like an idiot. too bad her friends were not in on her scheme, and just like that, this web of lies unraveled, leading to the divorce. I'd say she finally got that chance to fully pursue her ex-BF, but it seems like he wants nothing to do with her after being the unwilling third wheel. Plus, with how she tried to lie about it until the inevitable, yeah, she is not trustworthy.
