Other than being used to lift and reposition the heavy patients, gathering supplies on the higher shelves, being used to help calm the combative patients and being called a doctor by the older generation on the daily lol it’s awesome and amazing. The dudes definitely bring a chill vibe to the floor.

I just want to say that this video is very encouraging to other males who are considering the nursing profession. I’m also a male nurse who has been working in psychiatry for the last 3 years. There is definitely a place for male nurses out there. No one should feel intimidated or feel as if they don’t belong in this profession. The diversity is amazing whether you a female or male and being able to work with people from various cultural backgrounds. For any guy out there that is having doubts, go for it. I’m currently a guy in a CNA program, I’ve gotten crap from my friends, but my goal is to either become a travel nurse or a PEDs nurse practitioner. Honestly, being a guy in nursing makes me feel more confident and comfortable with my choice.

I really have enjoyed choosing to become a registered nurse who happens to be male. While I have 2 bachelor's degrees (nursing and human development), I wish I had gotten my BSN first and aimed toward nursing graduate school, bypassing the other degree. Beyond that, I got emt-basic license as I really enjoy emergency medicine and focusing on 1 person at a time with a team, but living in the middle of nowhere and being unable to move due to medical problems has made finding paid employment almost impossible. Nonetheless, even working as an unpaid volunteer in charity medical settings is job experience in my book and incredibly rewarding. Good luck to anyone who decides to pursue any healthcare; you are in for a real treat!

Be prepared to lift a lot of patients for 90 lb nurses. It is what it is. Nothing wrong with becoming a doctor but some of us just want to live our life.
