He created Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men, and many other fictional characters.

He led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large corporation.

He's Stan Lee and here are his Top 10 Rules for Success.

1. Just do it
In his youth, Lee enjoyed writing, and entertained dreams of one day writing the "Great American Novel".

2. Be friendly
He has said that in his youth he worked such part-time jobs as writing obituaries for a news service.

3. Value what you do
He graduated from high school early, aged 16½ in 1939, and joined the WPA Federal Theatre Project.

4. Have fun
He became an assistant in 1939 at the new Timely Comics division of pulp magazine.

5. Do it your way
Lee's first superhero co-creation was the Destroyer, in Mystic Comics #6 (August 1941).

6. Take risks
Lee entered the United States Army in early 1942 and served in the US in the Signal Corps.

7. Make what you like
The first superhero group Lee and artist Jack Kirby created was the Fantastic Four.

8. Create good products
With Kirby primarily, Lee created the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and the X-Men.

9. Think outside the box
He was inducted into the comic book industry's Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994.

10. Do cameos
Lee received a National Medal of Arts in 2008.

Too cool! As someone who has never been a fan of super hero's, super hero movies, let alone comic books I didn't even know who this guy was. My 9yr old who is a big fan of super hero's and more importantly anything to do with Marvel thanks to her dad, overheard this clip playing in the background, she rushed over to me to watch over my shoulder, that's Stan Lee!! she declares lol I'm like listening. Simply from his back story of his creative courage and belief in himself to keep going when people thought he was crazy combined with my passion and appreciation for being a writer and creative entrepreneur has me sold on this guy I never knew of before today. On my other desktop monitor I have a script draft for an original comic and a 'how to' guide on writing comic drafts and on this monitor I have Stan Lee pouring out countless amazing tips and advice for inspiring writers. There will never be another quite like Stan Lee. I would say 'rest in peace' but I feel that he still lives within all of us every day. Every time you flip through a Spider-Man comic or watch an Avenger's movie, he's brought back to life with the same joy, kindness, and sense of wonder that he inspired in us all.
