Gravity can be a great ally when running, if you know how to use it. Here are a few tips on how to use gravity to make running easier:

Lean forward slightly. This will help you keep your momentum going and prevent you from having to work as hard to move your legs forward.
Don't overstride. When you overstride, you have to work harder to lift your legs up and forward. Aim to land with your feet underneath your hips, or even slightly in front of them.
Use your arms to help you balance. Swing your arms naturally at your sides, or slightly in front of you. This will help you maintain your balance and momentum.
Relax your shoulders and neck. When you tense up, you're using more energy than you need to. Relax your shoulders and neck and let your arms and legs do the work.
Run on a soft surface. Running on a soft surface, like grass or a track, will help to absorb some of the impact and make running easier on your joints.

Damn that "push down instead of pull up" tip makes a WORLD of difference. Thank you so much for spreading your knowledge with us.

Being in the intermediate stage is so fun. That feeling of gradually getting better, your hip flexors and legs getting toned, and then one day the air just becomes richer and you can effortlessly cross distances that once winded you out. What worked for me was running 80% of the time at an easy pace and forcing myself to keep my heart rate down at the start.

For all those who are starting out, keep at it - it took me almost 6 months before things began to feel like they were getting easier. Truth be told, it never really gets easier but you somehow keep getting faster.

I love what you do. As a runner myself, I see so many people running really badly, if only these people could see your videos!

Thank you, than you again! I’m going to try some of your ideas the next time I go out. I’ve been putting off attempting until I lost some weight, but I can take short distances now. Thank you again!

Perfect video! Been working on these things with exercises you teach and my hip pain is gone and also tension in my neck is lessened, imagining banging a drum with hand as I strike helps timing, i fly up hills instead of dragging!

Hey Chari! I'm a new runner and your videos have taught me a ton about posture. My runs increased from 3km struggles to 10kms of enjoyment in no time.
Could you make a video about shoulder and back posture? I find I'm often getting sore ahoulders during my run. Thanks for all your advice!

Lost my motivation in training I’m a little older and the program I was using was a little much for me ended up injuring my foot and had to take a break and now I’m been 2 weeks without running and no motivation. Going to have a fresh start Monday with a new mind set wish me luck still have a goal of running a half marathon before I’m 40. I have 7 more months to go. Thanks for the advice and giving me a motivation boost ❤
