Ben Vereen leads the company of Fosse in "Bye Bye Blackbird," which was originally choreographed by Bob Fosse for the television special Liza with a Z in 1972. The recording was filmed August 17-18, 2001 and originally aired on PBS Great Performances February 5, 2002.

I love Ben Vereen - I saw him at London Palladium in the 70s and I'm still trying to work out how he can hover in the air! Wonderful.

Terrific!
I know the stage color cannot be changed, but if the backdrop were white, or yellow or something other than black, there would be enough contrast to see the dancers' dance steps -- especially Vereen 'cause he's so good! A backdrop of a different color (even a light grey) would make it far easier to see Fosse's choreography. With the black backdrop and stage, all the dancers -- Vereen especially -- blend into the surroundings making it difficult to watch with ease imo.
