I had considered getting this device, but thanks to this video, I realize that it would probably not be helpful to me as an African-American. Thank you, Dr. Linkov, for this vital information; I would have wasted money needlessly.

I work as a laser technician in a hair removal clinic and I noticed when I work with low power on patients they come back for the next session saying the hair grew even more than before the treatment 😳
Now I know why 😶

I bought a Platinum LED red light lamp for some neuropathy I had. My chiropractor recommended it. Since I had it anyway I figured I would try it for my hair loss. From what I’ve heard, red light only restores 35% more hair. It doesn’t bring everything back. I would say this is true for my experience. Did it bring everything back? No. However my hair is thicker now than it was 2 years ago. My hair is the thickest it’s been in the last 15 years or so. You can still tell I have thinning hair but it has improved substantially. Less of my scalp is visible than it was before and my ponytail is noticeably thicker. Hair barrettes that used to slip out of my hair now remain firmly in place, in fact my hair is now almost too thick to use them. My hair fall has substantially decreased as well.

I have also heard that minoxidil only works for less than half of the people that try it. I’ve tried it twice and didn’t see much if any improvement.

More recently, I have made a point of eating more animal based protein and now my hair fall has plummeted even more. Hair loss is such a complex problem with so many different causes. There’s so much trial and error involved in figuring out what works best for you.

I used irestore for about 15 months. Results were minimal and the reason I stopped using it after 15 months is because it became nonfunctional- the lights didn't come on anymore. No loose wires or change in how it was used. But out of warranty time so basically I now have a useless $1200 helmet. I took photos once a month to track progress or lack of it. The only benefit I saw was my hair grew longer faster than usual but did NOT grow thicker hair or more dense hair.

Thank you so much for making this series! Your videos are amazingly fact based and informative, I’m very grateful for you to be sharing this with us. Will you be doing one on female pattern hair loss (AGA in women)? You rock!!!

I've had a Capillus for about 2 years now. Still use it daily. This along with the PRP and two hair transplants was a great thing for my hair. Overall my hair looks much better now than two years ago.

I have been using a HairMax lasercomb for nearly seven years recommended by my dermatologist. I have fine hair and full long pieces were falling out. I now have a new head of hair! My new hair growth is Curly! I still have a lot of hair falling out apparently due to a follicular issue, but at least I have new hair growing back in!

Hi Doctor: I bought a red light device for my face: the Dr Gross appliance: what are your thoughts on effectiveness to boost collagen production?

Thanks for the review, I agree LLLt is a real option. I tried a couple of them, including the one that costs 1, 200$ ... which died on my around the 1 year mark. Since I saw great results and did not want to pay that much again, I opted for the Bold Laser Hair Cap... Gave me similar results (speed of hair growth) and maintained my previous progress... while saving me like 900$.

The $3000.00 Capillus cap was a huge disappointment for me. The charger kept breaking and eventually the laser went out after having it approximately one year. Contacting the main source or office and talking to someone in authority was impossible and all they did was offer a fee to replace the cap with a less expensive cap costing $700.00 . eventually I found a branch or Extentions of a branch and sent it back registered mail, without ever hearing from the Capillus again. Hummmm

But this makes no sense to me because even sunlight exposes your head to more red/infrared light than these helmets. So does that mean going out into the sun improves your hair density? or does the UV light or other wavelengths from the sunlight counter-act this effect?

Dr. Linkov. I've had one FUE transplant 10 years ago. Age 58. That procedure worked well. I was thinning as I got older but not completely bald. The follow-up protocols for me are Revian Red (10 mins per day); Oral minoxidil/finasteride/biotin, made by a compounding pharmacy and taken daily, and once a week derma rolling. My hair looks great and I haven't noticed any side effects. Perhaps you can comment in a future video about oral minoxidil/finasteride/biotin and its efficacy as I've read recently in the NY Times about how powerful the combination can be. I'm a testament to consistency and not waiting too long to begin treatment. All the best.
