It would be interesting if the hand was made of a amalgamation of many hands, like it wasn’t a single “thing” chasing her.
But multiple smaller creatures, not only it would make more sense in the physical sense with the creatures being able to fit in the house better, but it could also be better in the psychological sense with the child’s fears being manifested in that “thing”, almost if she wasn’t able to discern what it was but knew that it wasn’t good.
