How to make a fake refraction shader on unity shadergraph!

preview_player
Показать описание
Blackholes, pools, fire, and many other staple effects of the gaming industry use this technique to achieve cheaper and more artistically flexible refractions. Many people call this either warp shaders, refraction shaders, or distortion shaders; but in the end, it's all the same technique!

Also, some people call it plasma shader. I refuse to acknowledge them.

One of the greatets tutorials I've seen thank you. Wish more people would explain things this deeply. Keep up the good work, loving it!

Thanks so much for this tutorial, man! (I know I'm commenting way after the fact) But I've been struggling to find some guidance on making distortion effects that'll work with Shuriken. Distortion is super easy in VFX Graph, but I'm updating older effects and don't want to re-create everything. You're a great teacher and I can't wait to check out your other tutorials.

Man this is awesome! Super useful and well explained. The tone was on point and I never had the need to skip parts!!

this is AAA material, you are a fine tech artist.

So what exactly is the particle system doing? Copying a premade one without showing any of the settings is confusing to say the least.

Is it possible to distort transparent particles behind it? This seems to work only for opaque surfaces - every tutorial on distortion I've seen has this issue t-t

Ótimo tutorial Man.

Can you make a tutorial?

Question: I see u are doing this in PBR Master, is it even possible to do it in sprite lit/unlit Master? I don't think this can be created in my 2D renderer that's using URP... right?
