What's hurting the gaming industry is gaming companies who push drm, games as a service, pay to play etc...stuff nobody asked for but also it's the fault of the gamers who don't boycott these game companies games that practice all these marketing practices. so these game companies assume gamers are ok with all these marketing practices and continue to support them in just about every game developed and published.
