I watched it.. after each 10 minutes I kept saying, it will get much more exciting from this point.. but nothing exciting happens.. I said it might be one of those true stories films.. but it wasn’t.. i was on a good mood that night so i did finish it.. it’s an okay film (5.5/10)

Hahaha yes! My sister and I watched this and began questioning if we didn’t pay enough attention to the movie because we kept being like “wait what? why is this happening now?” I think we rewatched a half hour chunk because we swore we were missing something 😂

I knew that there was something up when I didn't even come across a trailer of it on Netflix or Anywhere when it's starring big names like Ben Affleck, Anne Hathaway and William Dafoe.

I think I have to watch this a second time to catch everything I missed. This movie /storyline is so cerebral you have to watch it more than once but I do believe this is Anne Hathaway’s best performance ever. The reason I say this is because I’ve not seen her in anything equal or anywhere near this caliber. Great cast! Excellent directing! I’m at a loss for more words but they are there, it’s just....my mind is overloading. I have to say I’m also wondering why they buried this in Netflix, I mean WTF?! You know someone is trying to squelch / bury something...I mean come on!

To all the people out there who don’t understand what this movie is because the movie doesn’t have a slap-in-your-face predictable direct play-by-play or a bunch of CGI doesn’t mean there wasn’t a storyline.

You call it a mess because you’re too young and you don’t understand the history of our government and you expect to be entertained with a bunch of over directed pollution. Not all movies are made for your excitement. My advice: watch it again.

Feeling like the good things from Netflix only appear in the end of the year like last year

Just finished it and I gotta say I really don't understand the hate from everyone. The film is shot really well, it's got a solid dramatic score, the performances are all at least good, and Hathaway is great. I think it's paced really well as the 2 hrs flew by. I wouldn't say I was ever lost in the plot, though I did have questions while I was watching it, but that's intentional by the Director. The plot seems super straight forward... obvious plot spoilers...Journalist covering humanitarian crisis in Central America. She gets pulled back to America where she's covering the presidential race as her editor is more interested in that. She finds out her distant father is ill so she goes to watch him. Soon learns he's involved in some smuggling in Central America. Realizes he might be involved in something bad so she offers to take his place. Once she's there realizes exactly what he's involved in, realizes its part of her original story, and that the entire thing was a set up to take him out because they are done with him. She then gets away and tries to work with an agent from the US government to get back home safely and get the story out. Turns out the US government was aware of the smuggling the entire time (this comes up several times in the first half of the film) and the agent she's working with double crosses her so that the story doesn't get out. During this entire time she's also helped out by another operative who seems interested in getting this story though she doesn't know if she can trust him. He ends up getting all of her pictures, and notes and taking them to his government. Unless i completely missed something and was making up my own plot as i was going I'm pretty sure that's it, it all seemed pretty straight forward to me. But whatever to each their own, I gave it a 7/10.
