Is this Thornfield Hall from Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre novel? Did Charlotte get inspired by the story of the Mad Woman in the Attic? Did she see the secret staircase? Come with me as we look around this wonderful old Yorkshire house and get a glimpse of what Charlotte would have seen when she came to visit 185 years ago.

---ABOUT ME---
Hello, I'm Kate—a huge fan of the Brontë Sisters for many years. Upon relocating to Yorkshire with my husband, I found myself irresistibly drawn to the village of Haworth, home of the Brontë Sisters and my obsession grew. It was during the challenging days of the Lockdown in 2020 that I decided to channel my passion into action. Disappointed by the lack of quality Brontë-themed goodies available, I embarked on a mission to create my own and my online shop was born.
Since then, I've immersed myself in the world of literature, attending Book Festivals and events across the UK. Inspired by my adventures and encouraged by the enthusiastic response from fellow Brontë enthusiasts on social media, I decided to share my experiences through YouTube videos.

You make me see Charlotte Brontë as Jane Eyre living in that splendid house. What a place I would stay forever.🦋💕🪶

This video was fascinating! In all the reading I've done about the Brontes, I don't recall coming across a reference to this house. I mean, I may have, but if I did, I don't remember it. So seeing the house and its secret staircase and room that may have been Charlotte's inspiration for Bertha Mason kind of gave me chills. The grounds are just breathtaking too. Thanks for another informative and evocative look into the Brontes' world!

Eu me senti passeando por este jardim, lendo um bom livro, ou tomando uma reconfortante xícara de chá. ❤

The story of Sir Richard and his horse is absolutely fascinating! The mark on the floor is particularly compelling, not only can you see the outline of the shoe, but the horse's frog too! (The frog being part of the hoof of the horse that is in the shape of a V. It's a very tender part of their foot. amazing to see this! No wonder Charlotte Bronte was inspired by this place!

This is very likely where she got her inspiration from. What fun! A hidden staircase. ❤

That's a great place. I like that it's been left alone pretty much and isn't all renovated and modernized. I can believe that was the inspiration for Thornfield.

Thank you for this.
It looks like the Thornfield in the Timothy Dalton version. My favorite .

In the US, we tear down a house before its a 100 years old, if that. This is amazing !

A long time favorite book, and a beautiful (and intriguing) house. Agree with the commenters who have mentioned literary license in the matter of the nonexistent battlements.... Apropos of absolutely nothing, I remember noticing something in one of the movie versions of the story (not sure which one, I've seen most of them). And I'm sure I wasn't the only one who noticed during the scene with poor mad Bertha, the camera zoomed in fairly close to her face while she was talking (and moaning). Close enough that the amalgam fillings in the actress's teeth were quite visible.... I expect if this particular version were ever to be re-released, they'd go in and fix that anomaly. With today's technology it would be quite easy to do, as I understand it.

Thank you Kate for this wonderful video! ❤️ I loved the house and the story about it and the alleged madwoman in the attic. Since I've seen "To Walk Invisible, " I see Finn Atkins as Charlotte Brontë and consequently as Jane Eyre, abd I could see her looking out that very window! 🎉Thanks again for sharing!
