I studied him in school because I lived around Lyon. He also tortured Jean Moulin, one of the main members of the resistance so much that Hitler had to stop him and send the guy to Germany to try a softer approach to extract information from him, but he succumbed to his wounds in the train that led him to Germany.
One of his methods of tortured for girls and women was sex with his german sheperds. His trial lasted for almost two months because many of the people he had tortured during WW2 were still alive and kept showing up to testify against him.
