Is Motley Crue's alleged use of backing tracks at live shows a smart adaptation to the challenges of aging, or a betrayal of rock's live performance ethos?

I saw these guys 4 straight tours in the 80’s & 1990 because I could
I wouldn’t give them a Canadian nickel today

They should have upheld their contract and retired. I think they damaged their reputation. As a musician, if you start faking playing your instrument, it's over. I loved Motley Crue, too, . I'm sad by all this. A lesson learned, I guess.

Didn't need the entire history. By the way how did they form in 1981 and release their first album was released in 1980

One thing Nikki, Tommy, and Mick absolutely fake is when they go to their mics to shout and it isn't them. They could be three feet away from it or not even open their mouths and the shout still plays out. They've been doing it since Carnival of Sins and I do not understand at all as to why they even pretend. Not to mention that the audio sounds like it does on their albums or the way its mixed doesnt sound like something someone could sound like live..
Why bother??
