We take our 50mm 1.8 lenses out for a walk! We answer (at least for us) if the 50mm lens is all you need to make great photos! We walk the streets of Sacramento, CA putting the lens to the test.

I love my 50mm 1.8 I take a lot of Street Portraits with it. Love it!!!

I’ve used my 18-55 kit lens and the 50mm 1.8. I love my plastic fantastic/Nifty 50. Love the bokeh and the wide aperture and the fact I can isolate my subject. You can’t do that with an f:4 lens.

Your camera is your main device. The lenses are added tools to the craft. Each lens does a different job. It also depends where you want to take your creativity. When I first picked up my fifty I couldn’t put it down. I wanted a photo ( not portrait) of some of my wife’s family together at an 85th birthday. I had the 50 on, then more jumped in. I had to remove it to put the kit lens on because of the tight space. So i has to quickly adapt to the surroundings and the moment.

I use my 50mm 1.4 on detail shots at events such as Baby Showers and Birthday and have used it on some Portraits. My other lens is 24-120mm f/4.0. I am a Hobbyist so for now both lens have served me well. I am hoping one day to purchase the 24-70 mm and 70-200mm! I love your channel. Keep up the good work!
