"Freedom from the alcoholic insanity"...Bingo! This is the essence of sobriety. Who wants to live everyday in a mental, physical, and emotional "tug of war" with alcohol? We have many sayings in recovery, and one of the best is, "Bring the body, and the mind will follow". Taking ACTION has to come first, before there will be a change in our "mindset". Most people whose drinking got "out of control" CANNOT fix a sick mind and body, with a sick mind and body. The biggest roadblock to sobriety, is focusing on "not drinking". The focus must be on how we are moving our feet differently.
Very few chronic drinkers can put the alcohol down, and deliver themselves from a FATAL CONDITION. This is what happened for me...First, I had an internal "surrender". Second, I started taking action I didn't believe in, (meetings) and got results I couldn't explain. Third, was that I could no longer deny that something was happening, that I was NOT responsible for. This is when my mindset began to change, but I call it the "development of a spiritual condition".
I am now in my 30th year of continuous sobriety, because I continue to take action on a daily basis. It has given me a life in abundance. The action I take is not because I have so much to lose...but so much to GAIN! All the best to you! Mark 5/8/1994

Thanks Terry! Great video. I'm 7 days sober this dry March and the physical part is over. It's a ll about the mindset as you've said in this video. I am now going for walks to avoid pouring a glass of Beer. Seems to be helping at this time and i'm starting to hang around with Sober people vs. people that are still drinking. I like how you stay positive so much, booze always seems like a good idea in the moment . But later on it makes you feel like shit lol

There's an awful lot of pink clouding with the sober movement. If you're a guy getting sober, goodbye dating and getting laid. Going to the gym in the day or a coffee shop is not conducive to a chilled out atmosphere where the opposite sex is receptive to talking. If you're getting sober like me, dating is over.

I am almost at this point. Most of my being is screaming "STOP!" I have cut back a good amount but for some reason I can't commit 100 😞
