This trail is not overly technical and is doable with older children as long as you feel they can handle the 1000 vertical meters of climbing. Resting and refueling stations can be found at the Auberge de la Boerne in Tre-le-Champs, the Alpage de Balme after climbing the Aiguillettes and in Vallorcine. Dogs cannot enter the natural reserve on the southern flank of the Aiguillettes des Posettes. So if you need to bring your dog then start the climb from Le Tour instead and approach the Aiguillettes from that direction. If you want to eliminate as much vertical gain as possible then do the loop in reverse and take the gondola up the mountain from Vallorcine. You will only miss Les Saix Blancs but most of the beauty and highlights of this route will still be covered.
