I was stuck at 3 stars for the longest time wondering why, then I looked it up and I needed one more villager. I got him and it boosted my island rating to 5 stars

i'm still a bit unhappy with the tree hard cap that flat-out prevents you from getting five stars. i designed my island to have a long, winding pathway up the mountain that gets more rugged as you go, but the game didn't like all the untamed, overgrown wilderness. i even added cute furniture and paving and fencing to make it feel at least a bit traveled. but, no, isabelle just had to get lost in the woods on the way to dobie's house, and she just had to tank our rating because she missed her favorite talk show. smh

I added an amusement park after 15 times of Isabelle saying “decorate the entire island, head to toe, or stream to sea” AND I STILL HAVE 3 STARS

mine’s on 4 stars and isabelle will NOT stop telling me to add more furniture

(6:22) Fortunately, this is actually incorrect!
Clutter only counts items dropped on the ground, not on furniture. I have 30+ “dropped” diys in stalls and on furniture throughout my island, and Isabelle still gives it a 5-star rating!

Also, as you may have noticed from her video, buried items also have no effect on your island rating. If you wanna avoid having dropped items, you can bury em instead! I have a little field of buried turnips and I think it’s cute bc it makes it look like I’m harvesting them when I dig em up. :)
