Back to Basics - The Analog Thrill Ride of the Ferrari 456 GT

This in-depth review takes an admiring look back at the legendary 1995 Ferrari 456 GT - the last prancing horse before high-tech driver aids transformed the Ferrari driving experience. Join us as we get behind the wheel of this rare manual transmission 456 GT for an engaging drive through the countryside.

With no traction control and no paddle shifters, the 456 delivers an intoxicating, unfiltered driving experience harking back to Ferrari's analog roots. See what makes the naturally aspirated 5.5L V12 engine an automotive masterpiece and learn how the 456 GT represents the end of an era for pure driver engagement. We contrast the 456's old-school tactile joy with the more digitized and technically assisted Ferraris that followed while examining what made this 90s icon so special.

Wonderful video about one of my favourite Ferraris. I've been lucky enough to have owned five of them since 1993 (2 328GTBs, 360 Modena, F355 Berlinetta & 456GTM). My wife loved the 355 apart from the colour (Rosso Corsa - resale red), the noise, the ride and the lowness... She actually 'quite liked' the 456 because it was (relatively) quiet, comfortable and even had electrically adjustable seats. No bum-warmers like her Skoda (gasp)! Flogged the 456 last year due to the boss asking why I needed an old Ferrari, an old Porsche (993) and an old BMW (635CSi). Happy wife, happy life eh? Keep up the good work, cheers from a slightly chilly Otford, Kent, UK.

Great episode. I really like this car, and love its stablemate, the 550 Maranello. This one looks and sounds lovely. Thanks for the drive. And you look much better without the blacked out sunshades, by the way.

I used to own one of these from 2013-2015 but had to sell it as I lost my job. Had a black one with light brown interior and it was lovely.
I really miss the car but would never afford to buy another.

I have always loved the 456, there is a beauty for sale where I live, Blue with Cream and only 31K on the clock, asking $210K. I wish I had the spare money, the beauty would be mine.

"The last great analog grand tourer"... wouldn't that be the 550 Maranello? Don't think it's any less analog than the 456...
