I listened to this over a 20 year old 150€ 5.1 Sub/sat set from Teufel. My first layman opinion:
Surprisingly similar. The micro might be a bit darker, the mr4 a bit brighter. Both sounded very nice (given the size and price). I'd go for the micro for size (as desktop pc speakers) and slightly more pronounced lows, or the mr4 for the price and slightly more precise lows(?).
Personally, I guess I'll get the mr4 due to the price.

Considering the price....Edifier MR4 please! That 's if you can do without bluetooth!

iLoud (which I actually love so much, I set them on my wish list) now dethroned by the 3x cheaper MR4 (I am now listening to this comparison in my trusty Philips SHP 9500 reference monitors, that are known for their extremely flat, neutral, airy sound with high treble - that means if something still sounds muddy, it is really bad and the formerly sparkly, crispy and full sounding iLoud now sound really muddy in comparison to the flat, yet punchy, clear neutral MR4 - simply incredible! 😮)

I got the Iloud Micro right now. Loving them. But damn, those others sound better in some of the songs, and for a third of the price. Damn good value there!

Listening with high quality DAC/Amp and Sennheiser HD600, It is very difficult to distinguish them. Edifier MR4 is just slightly brighter in the treble.

Hi, bro. After testing my new Edifier MR4, I hear a very slight noise that comes only from the tweeters of each speaker, it is like white noise or interference and it increases when the volume of the monitors is turned up. The sound does not come from the other connected devices, since the noise is heard even when I only have the monitors connected, without plugging anything else. I have also tried it with several current outlets and the sound persists. My question is, is this noise normal? For what is this? Is it normal or the one I have was faulty? THANK YOU

iLoud Micro has better bass extension. Long Night shows up a big level difference around 49hz (G note) for example. It would be much more satisfying when using MR4s with a sub.
There is a significant dip at 3k on MR4. Be aware of that if you’re gonna use MR4s as studio monitors. Therefore, calibration or simple EQing would be recommended in case of monitoring.
MR4 has good clarity. It has relatively excessive air(>10k), not necessarily a bad thing though. Imo high frequencies are smoother than some other Edifers.

iLoud -are- were the best nearfield monitors ever made after (2x / 3x more expensive) Genelec 8010 / 8020... but then along came Edifier MR4 😂 now I recommend MR4 (at the current price of under $100 it's a no-brainer!) MR4 is poor man's Genelec (the title which was given to the iLoud prior to the arrival of the MR4)

Do you think you can do a comparison with 5inch monitors with a woofer vs 8 inch monitors? I think that would be super beneficial for a lot of folks. Keep up the great work, love this channel!

I am currently using iloud micro, it does sound a little bit muddy at times but can listen long hours without fatigue. MR4 do sound clearer to me, but may cause fatigue due to high treble.

iLoud = thumpy muddled bass; Edifier = clearer, more pronounced mids, closer to original. Nice one, thanks!

Can you do the comparison from iloud micro vs edifier s1000mkii ? The iloud micro now costs $350usd and the S1000mkii can be bought at $350 with discounts frequently.
