So well deserved. It's the first time I've seen Barbra so moved in real life. You can tell this meant the world to her.

I love that she got to present the Oscar to the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director (Kathryn Bigelow) and how she said “the time has come”!

I didn’t know Streisand won this award. I saw Yentl when it was first in theaters and admired it. I saw it again recently and found it to be a very fine movie — everything about it is at a very high level of achievement.

Her speech was genuine here and not rehearsed like in later years. I still love Yentl.

Yentl, a masterpiece.Barbra at her artistic peak. Who can forget that last note of ‘Piece of Sky’ :

Yentl is highly underappreciated. It's the best musical picture ever, for me.
It was polished to perfection.

It's 2021 and I wish Barbra had directed more movies. It must have taken a LOT out of her and she is so professional. I so wish her well, we are all growing older. Watched her since the 1960's and she is a legend. So much talent.

She should of won the best director that year for her masterpiece Yentl. It's a shame that jealousy, depisemment perhaps because of her temperament at times, but then who doesn't have those human emotions, and the fact that she was a woman in a historically male dominated category, blinded or interfered with objectivity and fairness in judging artistic excellence in directing. She deserved it that year.

She is perfect to direct a movie.
Congratulations for that won prize

How depressing that she said "this award represents, I hope, new opportunities for so many talented women" and yet, to this day, she is still the only woman ever to win the Best Director award.

Well deserved. Yentl was a great movie.

Boy it's so wonderful to see her so "off guard, " as it's not often that Barbra shows this side of her. Usually everything is perfected. It's fantastic that she won--and a scandal that she got zip from Oscar for "Yentl."

She is so on point with this speech. And so ahead of the time in that 30+ years later, this issue with the lack of women in leadership roles in the movie business is still an ongoing talking point.

Rock on, Barbra! You may have the biggest voice, the biggest jew fro and the biggest ego in the business. But you're Barbra Fucking Streisand, so I say keep on walking, lady! You worked your ass off and deserve this!

Barbra is a skilled movie director, and I only hate that she hasn't helmed more films than she has (three).  I think she said in an interview that I saw her in not that long ago, that she'd like to direct a film again.  Hoping she does, and looking forward to it.
