I been to two weddings in the last four months in Udon Thani and they did the show of money to the bride’s mother. I thought it was very cool to see. I have the two videos on my channel if you care to watch. Look like you scored with your wife. I also retired to Thailand in April 2024 and live in Udon Thani. I been visiting Thailand since 2013.

I got married in Chaiyaphum in January. We did the old traditional show of money and gold. Was special having my dad next to me carrying to money and my mum carrying the gold, both flew in from Australia, as we walked to the house.

Hi Greg i enjoy your no nonsence videos and the way you tell it like it is. I too have married a reserved little Isan Princess and have been with her for 20 years and is so sweet she gives me a toothache 555. My younger brother came over to the deep dark and dusty far reaches of Isan near Kalasin. It is important to set up boundaries right away so you don't get blind sided and i too did not pay Sin Sod and the show of gold and money was just that a show of face. Later we used some of the money to build a house 10 minutes down the soi from her parents and base out of the house for our Thai traveling excursions. Her 2 brothers have decent jobs and help support the parents as we do. Take Care!
