Made Halal is a brand new series by Freshly Grounded where a professional chef (Yusuf) takes popular foods from around the world and teaches you how to make them from home, halal.

🍔 RECIPE & INGREDIENTS 🍔
1kg Red Potatoes
1.5 L cooking oil
Salt to taste
3 brown onions
3 slices spiced cheddar
1 gherkin
2 tbsps Mayo
2 tbsps sriracha
2 tbsps ketchup
1 tbsp honey
1) peel the potatoes and slice them into fries size shapes. Add them into some cold water and bring to a boil.
2) after a few minutes, or when the potatoes have become slightly tender but not fully cooked, drain them completely and dry them on a tray.
3) while they are drying, roughly chop your onions and fry them in a knob of butter and some oil. Add a sprinkle of salt to increase the moisture, and fry on a low heat for 20 minutes so that it caramelises.
4) Heat up the cooking oil over a medium/high heat, adding your dried fries in batches and frying until golden and crisp.
5) While they are frying, add chopped gherkins to the remaining ingredients.
6) Plate up by placing the chips on a plate, topping with caramelised onions, cheese, and sauce.
