This random item challenge idea was originally inspired by McBirken's 'Minecraft but if I Die my Friends Lose' video series and created with Custom Command Blocks. I thought it would be a fun idea to code a custom minecraft difficulty around that concept following the Minecraft Speedrunner Vs Hunter AKA Minecraft Manhunt format. The twist is that they must attempt to die instead of beating the game, which a variety of overpowered (OP) items make extremely difficult. This also shows the Types of People Portrayed by Minecraft since everyone has different strategies of beating the challenge.

The problem is everyone was trying the most dangerous way to die, not the most unusual way to die. If you can find the most convoluted untraditional means of dieing it's probably not covered.

As someone who breaks things I have so many good ideas
Placing a block above your head underwater
Making a backwards stack of blocks in the void so it can't push you down (although I think the void doesn't damage until a few blocks down)
Suffication by piston arm (as its not falling)

I installed the datapack, activated it in 1.16.5, started a new world, and drowned in water. I don't think it's working correctly for me...


Edit: turns out a way to die in this datapack is to put it in the resource pack folder instead of the datapack one!

I found another way to die with this datapack:
Enchant some armor pieces with thorns (I tested it with III so idk if it also works with II and I) and put them on an armor stand. By punching it you will take damage and if you hit it often enough you'll eventually die.

I found out that it's possible to drink instant damage potions in the off hand, making it possible to use them to die :)

2 things I instantly thought on how to die after seeing Mcbirken float and not drown…

1. Box yourself then put water inside, make sure you have a roof and your locked inside so you can drown. Idk if this works or not but it can probably work.
