Hello again!

I decided to resample and upscale another video.

This time I decided I was finally good enough to do my favorite song and favorite music video ever!

Shania Twain is my absolute favorite singer and when I started learning how to do this stuff I knew I had to do some of Shania's older videos. There's a long process of conversion going on with this going back to when it was originally shot and I I'll explain that below.

Starting when this was first shot this music video was originally shot on 35mm film at 23.976 fps as most things were at this point because tape wasn't that great and mostly used for soap opera's or other TV Shows and film was EXPENSIVE! The other option which would have been digital was still in it's infancy and wouldnt become mainstream in production until around 2007-2009 era when the economy crashed and studios had to find a way to develop reusable media without any degradation to the material. Next this had to get developed and "ripped" as we would call it today to something that was useful for mass production so it was then trasnferred to a digital tape (someone correct me if I am wrong) and then interlaced copies were ripped from that to be used in mainstream production. Luckily Shania's team went back to the original film and then did a retransfer later digitally but why not then upload it in HD in the first place, that would work better than anything I could ever do in regards to AI Upscaling and resampling. After the second retransfer and the pull-down to 29.97 fps it was then uploaded to the internet where most of us enjoy it today. Last night however I decided to this video finally, I started with the original progressive video and used an AI model to pull it back to it's original framerate and then start filling in the gaps with AI generated interpolated frames to give it that buttery smooth motion. I then used a different AI model to upscale it to 4K and resample the color so there's more of a gradient and I uploaded it here.

Original specs vs new are as follows:

35mm film 23.976 fps converted to digital progressive 640x480 29.97 fps

ProRes digital with 4:4:4 color 2880x2160 60 fps
