Shinji Sato's vocal range in this song is absolutely incredible, reaching notes that I could never dream of reaching and doing that while managing to not sound like a dying animal. It is absolutely breathtaking that a man could hit notes like this. Rest in Peace, Shinji Sato.

At times like these I feel so grateful for the japanese, and I mean the audience. So respectful, so silent throughout the whole song. I don't think you could get live recordings this clean anywhere else in the world.

On December 28th, 1998, Minato, Tokyo, Fishmans performed their last concert with its leader and vocalist, Shinji Sato, before his death on March 15th, 1999, at the age of 33.
This live performance would pass to history as one of the greatest achievements ever seen in modern music.

I talked to Kinichi Motegi 2 years ago when I was in Tokyo. He pointed out where to go and see where they took the original album photo for Long Season. I ended up running into a bunch of Japanese boulderers and the rest of the day is a haze from the alcohol. I'll never forget that. Ill also never forget my 17 year old self listening to this for the first time almost a decade ago. Time flies. Use it wisely.

40:31 this last moment absolutely breaks my heart, he sings with his soul. Also he looks like an angel with the white light.

Today is the birthday of Fishmans Keyboardist and like 4 more things, Honzi! She would've been 58 today! Everything she played, she played it perfectly, I don't even have the words to describe her violin and keyboard parts. She was a genius.
I'll just leave my favorite moment of hers in this masterpiece: 35:40
R.I.P, Honzi, we miss you a lot.

For me, the most emotional piece of music ever recorded. Like a lone, hopeful finger scraping the ornery of heaven's gates.

"You don't have to make compromises in your work, but it is important to be grateful and humble. I must hope for the future of music and keep challenging myself. If I stop, it's over. I want to sing good songs now while feeling good. I want to do fun shows. All I want now is a beautiful show."
A letter Satō wrote to his mother before this last concert.
Happy Birthday and Rest In Piece, Shinji Satō, you would've been 59 today. I just want to say that your beautiful melodies are still changing lifes. Thank you Satō, Thank You for changing My Life, thank you for teaching us how to Walk In The Rhythm and Thank You for living
"In the middle a Dream."

I’ve known about fishmans for the longest time and I’ve always known how insanely good long season was but I never decided to listen to it until today and wow is it crazy good. This performance is even better than the already incredible song. I could go on and on about this performance but the double farewell meaning ads to it so much.
